Early on we focused on 3 things: Natural raw materials, green packaging solutions and responsible waste management. The idea is to leave as small a carbon foot print as possible. Reason why, we package foods in glass bottles and not plastic. All the fruit waste, instead of being dumped in into garbage is used for compost. We don't use any food grade water in our process and the grey water that the kitchen creates goes into soap pits. We source organic, natural produce, wherever possible directly from micro farmers. Thankfully, Chennai has a vibrant organic community. There are NGO’s like Restore, Organic Farmers market and others who are very helpful in connecting farmers to buyers and help promote sustainable living. Although we are a “For profit” organization, we want to some how contribute whatever we can. So we employ women from the local community to help build their capacity and better their chance of employability. One such story is that of Dhana-laxmi. A mother of two growing girl children, Dhana was working as a house maid when she was introduced to us. After about 2.5 years of training and working with us, Dhana is now Senior Assistant production!
